The design brief for this project was to create a flexible plastic package for an otherwise rigid packaged consumer product. The current sunscreen packaging is made out of rigid and bulky plastics that are not compostable. It is hard to get all of the product out as well. Therefore, Sun Squeeze uses a mixture of PBAT and PLA bioplastics to create a flexible compostable package for sunscreen users.

Compression Mold Testing

The PBAT and PLA was compression molded together multiple times to figure out the ideal temperature, time, and pressure. For these plastics, a temperature of 300°F at 45 seconds with 10 tons formed the ideal layering of plastics.
